Sliding away

The hut is a timber lattice clad in 64 plastic saucer sleds. None is fixed. Each hangs on the wall until someone lifts it off, and where it goes next is left to them.

The colour and number of sleds change the hut's appearance from day to day. A full wall is a dense, bright, patterned skin. As sleds leave, the lattice thins and the hut grows lighter and more open.

Inside, the open floor offers a place to sit or lie down. The fewer sleds remain on the outside, the more the interior is revealed to the trail, drawing passers-by in.

At the end of the season, remaining sleds are given away and the timber is reused or burned as firewood. The hut's life continues well beyond the exhibition.
